Seriously cool music collaboration on the web needed a seriously cool style and presence, so InstaJams contracted me to design a new identity, audit the existing web app, simplify some of the functionality, and make everything easy to use and beautiful.
The challenge
InstaJams had an amazing idea for virtual music collaboration in real time. They were ahead of their time with this tech, but without a designer to help them make sense of their control interface, actually using their service was proving to be less than fun.
Outcome
While this was a relatively simple project, the foundations I created with these guidelines transformed an app that looked like it had been designed by a developer (it had) into an experience that looked like Google had released it.
